Get Involved in the Colorado Springs Bike Community

Active Transportation Advisory Committee

Members of the ATAC are residents from the city of Colorado Springs who serve as an advisory committee on cycling, running and other forms of active lifestyles within the city limits. In addition to serving the active community within Colorado Springs, the  members advise on improvements to accessibility, connectivity, and the ease of inter-modal mobility throughout the city limits. The public is always invited and encouraged to attend ATAC monthly meetings.

Bicycle Colorado

Bicycle Colorado uses the tools of education and advocacy to make Colorado one of the most bicycle-friendly states. We encourage and promote bicycling, increase safety, improve conditions and provide a voice for people who ride bicycles in Colorado. With the support of our members, we’ve made significant strides in improving bicycling since 1992.

Bike to Work Day

To make cycling events come to fruition and remain free to the public, community support is vital. Many volunteers are needed each year to plan events, staff the annual Mountain Metro Rides Bike to Work Day,  and staff the FREE Bicycle Valets that are provided at large community events. Without volunteers, it would be impossible to execute these events.

If you are committed to encourage cycling for personal and community health, alternative transportation, recreation, and sustainability, we encourage you to become a volunteer.

Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL)

Kaiser Permanente believes that creating healthy communities requires a wide variety of community-based prevention strategies as well as the support from a broad array of funders, advocates, policy experts, health practitioners and most importantly community residents. Partnership and collaboration help drive positive change in community environments by bringing together multiple sectors of society that must work together to create complicated and lasting change.

Kids on Bikes

Kids on Bikes mission is to inspire and empower all kids to lead healthy, active and happy lives through biking.

The League of American Bicyclists

For generations past and to come, The League represents bicyclists in the movement to create
safer roads, stronger communities, and a bicycle-friendly America. Through information, advocacy and promotion, we work to celebrate and preserve the freedom cycling brings to our members everywhere.

Medicine Wheel Trail Advocates

Medicine Wheel Trail Advocates, a chapter of IMBA, is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to create, sustain and advocate for quality mountain bike experiences for the riders of the Pikes Peak Region through advocacy, trail building, outreach and education.

For over 17 years, members of MWTA have been in constant contact with all the local land management agencies, including the City of Colorado Springs Parks Department, El Paso County Parks, the US Forest Service, the BLM, and Colorado State Parks. We work to be a resource for all these agencies any time a question comes up about mountain biking and trail use.

Trails and Open Spaces Coalition

The Trails and Open Space Coalition is a 501c3 nonprofit created in 1987, and committed to preserving open space and parks and creating a network of trails, bikeways and greenways for the Pikes Peak region.

We work cooperatively with local and regional governments, community organizations, businesses, families and individuals who share the vision of an interconnected network of trails, greenways and open space. We advocate, educate, build connections with other groups, fund projects, and create and support volunteer projects.

Walk Bike Connect

Do you know of a street that lacks bike infrastructure, or needs improved connections? Submit your infrastructure-specific comments to help refine improvement recommendations through February 13, 2015.

Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments, El Paso County, the City of Colorado Springs, and the City of Woodland Park have come together in an unprecedented collaboration to develop a regional nonmotorized transportation system plan that is integrated and coordinated. The goal is to develop a plan that encourages more people to consider riding their bike or walking throughout the region.

UpaDowna's mission is to provide access to outdoor adventures for all through events and programs that empower individuals, create healthier communities, and foster a respect for the environment.

USA Cycling
